Career Mentorship For Nigerian Undergraduates
6 in 10 Nigerians today is 24 years or below, only 3 of the 6 get post-secondary education and at the current employment rate, only 1 of the 3 is guaranteed employment after graduation. Add the sub-par quality of education in most of our tertiary institutions and you wonder how the Nigerian will fare on the global stage in years to come.
Our goal is to inspire and support a community of young leaders, energized to go as far as their ambitions, talent, and determination will take them.
It will require considerable effort, but we are excited to take on the challenge of impacting millions of undergraduates in Nigeria’s 197 universities and polytechnics (and counting), by the year 2030.
At PFF, we recognise the need for action and not just any type of action, but effective plans to equip students in tertiary institutions with a suitcase of skills and knowledge that may not be readily available within the walls of their schools. We want to support them through;
Seminars:
Headlined by experts in different fields of endeavor, corporate leaders and business owners committed to grooming the next generation of Nigerians, to adequately compete with their peers all over the world. We’d rather not wait till they are pressed by the job market pressure and consequently fall into the age-long cycle of survival. PFF’s goal is to have smart discussions with these young leaders on their aspirations and in turn, equip them with skills and tools and support them as they take the baton to give back to their respective communities.
Mentorship Programs:
Subsequent to an application and review process, accepted candidates will be paired with mentors; men and women who have demonstrated substantial expertise, measurable experience and proven success in their respective careers, industries, and businesses. For a period of six months, these mentees take on a series of projects designed by mentors who will groom and guide them and then measure their overall performance, and progress at the end of the program.
Internships:
Match the interested undergraduates with corporate organizations for internship programs. So they will be better acquainted with the necessary skills in their chosen careers and develop first-hand workplace ethics even before graduation.
