How it all Started

Our story is not an anecdote of a Eureka moment or passion from a lightning bolt experience.

As an undergraduate at the former University of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State (now Ekiti State University), Oluwaseun Fadipe always took on the responsibilities of someone much older, always eager to create additional means of survival for those around him who needed help to get on their feet. His friends readily recall him being responsible for school fees, textbooks, and even pocket money for those who couldn’t afford it, sometimes to his own detriment. Forging a career in geology and becoming a leader in his field also provided him more wherewithal to come to the aid of others.

Supported by family and friends passionate about not just giving a hand to the less fortunate but also helping them get back on their feet, the Prince Fadipe Foundation (PFF) was born.

However, there’s only so many people one person can help and the number of Nigerians falling below the poverty line daily is staggering. The incessant terrorist attacks in the northeastern part of the country have taken a new face, as more and more Nigerians are being shot or bombed out of lives that they had built for themselves to live in camps, homeless and dependent on the benevolence of local and international humanitarian groups. In short, his efforts alone can only go so far.

You do not need to have been poor to want to help the poor

The Prince Fadipe Foundation story is the story of every Nigerian who chooses not to look away

To make significant impact in the lives of the more than 1.9 million displaced men, women and children in dire need of life-saving aid as a result of Boko Haram attacks, provide survival items to the more than 86.9 million living on less than 1.90 dollars a day, and ensuring that the more than 120 million Nigerian youths are poised to take on the challenges of their time, much more needs to be done.

Convinced that the widespread poverty in the country can only be reduced by a productive economic engine driven by the private sector, the foundation also incorporated a career mentoring arm and an entrepreneurial support program, both targeted at our bulging youth population in an effort to transform the youth demographic into a dividend, and to inspire them to create businesses and become experts in their fields, so they can also positively impact their communities.
